J'ai 21 ans

Bonsoir!
This evening i like to show a piece i did 21 years ago - entire made by hand to the end of my apprenticeship.

I had to refresh it. It was made of 14K Gold, ivory, ebony, ruby, diamonds and pearls.


Under the butterfly you can see the layout - i still have.

When I have start in 1973 , my first work was a big butterfly full of diamonds and cabochons.

I have just a design about it, I will show you tomorrow.

You shouldn't, simply because there is no reason for that. I learned one thing in my life - everyone on this earth can do special things no other can do in that specific way. So - for example - if you can put a smile in the face of someone, that is a thousand times more worth than my stupid butterfly. If this butterfly puts a smile in your face, than i did it the right way. Think twice - if this piece makes you sad, there must be something wrong...

It does not make me sad I am just amazed...
But when I see peaple with skills this high (moreover if they are younger) in a field I am learning I just feel I could never do this good.
But this is just a bad habit of mine. I should just focus on what I do and not compare myself to others...
I definitly have to work on my drawing skills...

Hello Thierry, please believe me, i am far away from perfection. I am sorry, if it seems so. When you are new to somewhere, wouldn't you try to give a good appeal? I have tried that here, but......... if Adrien feels sad and you think i try to reach perfection, that isn't good - maybe some thinking i am arrogant. I don't want that, so i will post other pieces next time - to put a smile into your face

don't believe it from me, I don't think you're arrogant, far away, I really appreciate your work and at the same time we must take it as a friendly wink to Michael and the discussion coming in the forum (just because of me). If a jeweler as you master the metal work in hand, he can allow himself to use the castings (and maybee wax) to make good jewelry?

How many hours did you pass on this magnificent butterfly?

Bonjour à toutes et tous,

This is my first work in a parisian workshop......for Bulgari in Roma.




The original design was better than this one from my hand.

It was in 18K gold, with 2 rubys, 2 Ceylan sapphires, 2 emeralds, each of then with a line of onyx on the side.

All the surface was in diamonds setting '' nid d'abeille ''

I have work for five years in this workshop, and I have lerarn a lot of thing in jewelry.

Maybe in the future, I hope to make peace important near this kind of jewelry. I am near to deceide to stop order in 2016 and just make and only make my dreams.
